Blaney, Foster & Dible Grab 2007
Season Opener

FREMONT, Ohio (Saturday, April 21, 2007) - Dale
Blaney lived up to his
nickname - "The Tall Cool One" - Saturday to open
Fremont Speedway's 56th
season. The Fowler, Ohio driver utilized his
patience to take the 410 sprint
feature victory on Mt. Dew Night.
Fremont's Bobby Foster dodged disaster with just
two laps remaining and went
on to claim his 19th career win in the Fremont
Federal Credit Union 305
Sprint feature.
An emotional Bob Dible recorded his 6th career
checkered flag in the Fremont
Fence Dirt Trucks.
Blaney utilized lapped traffic to overtake Paul
Weaver on lap 14 and would
not budge from the bottom of the race track to
score his fifth career
Fremont victory.
"I just had to be patient...it's a 30-lap
feature and I knew we had a strong
car," said Blaney from the Engine Pro Victory Lane
beside his Hoosier Tire,
Kemp Insurance sponsored #2. "I know everytime I
crawl into George Fisher's
car, it's going to be strong and I just have to do
my job and let the race
come to me."
For Foster is looked like he would cruise to the
win, but while trying to
put a car a lap down with just two circuits
remaining, he jumped the berm on
the bottom of turn 3 and nearly ended his run.
"The red light came on in (in the cockpit) and
the engine died...but I
turned right and the motor came back to life," said
Foster beside his JD
Automotive sponsored #3J. "I knew Jason (Deel) had
a great car and we have
the best motors Gressman Powersports can give us.
So when we hit the halfway
mark I started thinking about winning number 19. I
have to give Clay Keim a
lot of credit. When I first started out, he would
always point out what I
could do better and he instilled in me to race the
track and not the
competition."
Bob Dible pointed to the sky upon exiting his
Bob's Machine #17 truck in the
Engine Pro Victory Lane.
"This one's for Vic (his long-time crew chief).
We lost him this past
winter...I know he's looking down on us," Dible
said. "I kept riding Steve's
(Sabo) rear bumper and I had to ride the breaks
hoping he'd slip up. Steve's
a pretty cool customer and he rarely makes a
mistake. When Jim (McGrath)
drove round us on the high side, I knew Steve would
race him and maybe open
up the bottom a little and he did."
Troy Vacarro jumped into the lead of the 30 lap
feature for the Fort Ball
Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, with last year's 305
sprint track champion Paul
Weaver and his Genzman racing teammate John Ivy,
Bobby Clark and Blaney in
tow.Weaver would shoot around Vacarro on lap four,
as Blaney moved into
third, dropping Ivy to fourth. The car on the move
was 2006 All Star champ
Greg Wilson as he had raced his way from 9th to
sixth.
Weaver continued to lead with Blaney moving into
second by lap 7 with Ivy,
Clark, Wilson, Lee Jacobs, Byron Reed and Mike
Linder battling behind.
Blaney followed Weaver's tire tracks on the bottom
of the track until he
made the winning move on lap 13 as the leaders hit
lapped traffic.
The race stayed green with the running order
Blaney, Weaver, Ivy, Vacarro,
Wilson, Linder, Reed and Clark until lap 23 when
David Harrison looped it
out in turn two. There were now a pair of lapped
machines between Blaney and
Weaver. Blaney took advantage of the clean track
and went on to the victory
over Weaver, Ivy, Wilson and Reed.
In the 25-lap feature for the Fremont Federal
Credit Union 305 Sprints,
Foster was the beneficiary of bad luck by pole
sitter Steve Rando. The
Lindsey driver had a muffler fall off his car when
pushed out for the race,
sending him to the tail and moving Foster from
third starting spot to first.
Foster would cruise around the bottom the
distance, never really challenged
until his bobble with two laps remaining. The
racing behind him was exciting
between Brad Bowman, Andy Shammo, Bill Kraylek,
Craig Kayes, 15th starter
Todd Heuerman, Chad Gullett and
Kevin Lee.
When Foster hit lapped traffic by lap 9, Bowman,
utilizing the high groove,
closed a few times to within a couple car
lengths.At the checker it was
Foster, Bowman, Shammo, Kays and Heuerman.
In the 20-lap main for the Fremont Fence Dirt
Trucks, three-time Fremont
champion Steve Sabo led the first 10 laps as Dible
continually hounded his
rear bumper as they were glued to the bottom
groove. Meanwhile 11th-starting
Jim McGrath went to the outside and rim-rode his
way into third by lap 8.
McGrath would drive around Dible and Sabo to take
the lead on lap 11. Dible
was finally able to stick a fender under Sabo to
grab second on lap 12 and
raced side by side with McGrath for the lead the
next five laps. Dible was
able to drive under McGrath and take the lead on
lap 14 and cruise to the
win.
Following McGrath to the checkeres were McGrath,
Sabo, Steve Endicott and
Cory Ward.
Fremont Speedway will be back in action
Saturday, April 28 for Kistler
Engines Night featuring the 410 sprints, 305
sprints and dirt trucks. Gates
open at 4:30 p.m. with racing slated to get
underway at 7:30 p.m.
