History Was Made Tonight At Fremont Speedway By Scott Hall & Andrew Barman Jeff Shepard and Dale Blaney traded the lead four times Saturday night at Fremont Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 50 lap feature. But at the end Blaney ran out of fuel and Chad Kemenah passed Shepard to lead the final five laps and record the $10,000 win in front of a standing room only crowd. It was Kemenah's fifth win of the year in the Jim Harble UUI American Augers Hyundai Equipment Eagle with Kistler power. "It was a really good racetrack and Jeff drove a good race, "Kemenah recalled. "It was real close. And I found out a week ago I'm going to be a dad so this is real great week," he added. "I just like to run around the top of this place and put on a good show for the fans." Rob Chaney and Blaney made up the front row for the start
with Shepard starting in eighth. Blaney grabbed the lead at the start with
Chaney second and fourth starter Mike Linder third. Chaney and Linder battled
behind Blaney, with Chaney keeping second as Shepard passed a car a lap to move
At the yellow on lap 42, the running order was Shepard, Blaney, Chaney, Kemenah, Linder, Kinser and Byron Reed. Three laps were run under green before runnerup Blaney stopped on the backstretch, out of fuel. His crew tried to get him refueled and back out, but it was too late and he was forced to go pit side. This moved Kemenah back into second ahead of Chaney, Linder, Kinser, Reed and Brandon Wimmer. Kemenah drove to the high groove after the green reappeared to take the lead from Shepard, and once in front the pulled away for the win as Shepard's tank ran dry after the checkered flew. Chaney ended up third. "Our car was good but I ran out of gas at the end,
that's three quarters "My car was really good on the long runs and I told my guys without these cautions I had a shot at it," Chaney stated of his third place finish. "I'm just happy we ran third. This is a big finish for this team." Reed was fourth after starting 15th, ahead of Linder,
Kinser, Wimmer, 20th starter Jason Johnson and Greg Wilson. Wilson flipped in
his heat and missed the transfer to the feature by one position in the B Main,
so he moved to the Andy James machine for the feature, starting in the 24th
spot. The Crown Battery heat fell to Kenny Jacobs, the B&B
Products heat and Haulmark Dash went to Kemenah, the Engler Machine and Tool
heat was won by Kraig Kinser and the TP Wings heat fell to Jason Johnson. Shane
Helms captured the last chance race and Ed Neumeister won the Outerwears
Pre-filters C Main. The United Aluminum Window Sales & Consulting B Main was
On the front row of the 25-lap A-Main event for the 305 econo sprints was the 1K of Willie Keegan and on the outside front row was the 4 of Mike Oberdorf. When the green flag flew Willie Keegan was off like a rocket. With about 5 laps into the race Keegan had close to a straight away advantage over the second place car of Brian Sebetto. The yellow flag came out at the halfway mark and that bunched up the field. When the race resumed, Sebetto passed Keegan going into turn 1 to take over the lead. Keegan would try his hardest to pick up the feature win but was denied by Sebetto as he picked up his second career 305 feature win. Second was Willie Keegan, third was Andy Shammo, fourth was Brian Smith, fifth went to Bill Kraylek, sixth was Caleb Griffith, seventh was Matt Merrill, eighth was Mike Oberdorf, ninth was Bobby Foster, and rounding out the top ten was the 10s of Roger Shammo.
