Sebetto Takes Low-Buck Team To Richest Attica 305 Victory; Missler Gets
Exciting Late Model Win; Ball Collects Truck Victory

OH) Their engine was built in a small garage, not in a machine
shop with dynos and several employees. They were probably one of the
lowest funded teams in the pits, but throw in a good driver and a
determined crew, and you end up in victory lane at Attica Raceway Park.
Fremont's Bryan Sebetto - who normally pilots a 410 sprint car - got
behind the wheel of his good friend Brad Bowman's 305 sprint car Friday
and claimed the richest prize the division sees as he took the win in
the Pepsi Engine Builder's Challenge feature.
"Brad's been one of my best friends...we started racing the same time
together. From day one we hit it off as friends...he's been like a
brother to me," said Sebetto beside the Innovative Graphics, Advantage
Motors backed sprint car. "Two weeks ago I was helping out some buddies
and he said 'man I wish I'd have known you were here I'd sent the car
up' and I said 'what about a couple of weeks from now for the 305
challenge' and he said 'yep go ahead.' So I hopped in it and it was
awesome all night."
The Fultz Fabrications and Speed Shop UMP Late Models put on a fantastic
show as the 25-lap feature went non-stop. When the checkered flew, it
was Bellevue's Ryan Missler picking up his second win of the year as he
battled Chad Ruhlman in side-by-side racing the last 13 laps.
"That was great...this car was perfect, anybody could have driven that.
As the race went on the better it got," said Missler beside his Simple
Green Guy, Terry McConnell Excavating, TAZE D.J. Service backed late
model.
Art Ball fought an ill-handling dirt truck and took the lead on lap 9
after a great battle with Alex Wiechman and Jim Keegan to claim his 10th
career truck victory.
"It was a handful...I don't know why. We had a spring go to
heck...a-frame the last time we ran here. We are just getting it back to
where we think it should be. If we get this thing handling the way I
like it, we'll get more wins," said Ball beside his Magers Lumber, Linda
Ritzler Accounting, Tin Lizzy Collision backed truck.
305 Sprints - Bryan Sebetto
At the drop of the green for the 30-lap Fremont Fence 305 Sprints'
feature, Bobby Clark jumped into a commanding lead while Stuart
Brubaker, Todd Heuerman and Sebetto battled for second. Just as Clark
was hitting lapped traffic on lap 9, the yellow flew. While cruising
under the caution, it was evident Clark's right rear tire was going
down, forcing him to head to the pits and giving the lead to Sebetto who
was finding speed around the top side of the track.
While Sebetto pulled away, a tremendous battle was going on for second
between Heuerman, Kevin Lee and
Brubaker. Sebetto would hit lapped traffic by lap 17, and had his
handful three laps later as the back markers raced side-by-side in front
of him. This allowed Heuerman, Lee and Brubaker to close. The caution
would bunch up the field with just two laps to go with the running order
Sebetto, Heuerman, Lee, a closing John Ivy and Brubaker.
With a clean track ahead, Sebetto would pull away for his 12th career 30
sprint victory. Heuerman, Lee, Ivy and Steve Rando would round out the
top five.
"I didn't want to see that last caution...I'd rather ran it out those
last two laps. What a tough break for Bobby Clark. I saw he had a right
rear tire going down...tough break because he had a fast race car. What
a great deal for Advantage Motor Works...it's the only motor out here
built by them and you can see how good it runs," said Sebetto.
UMP Late Models - Ryan Missler
Devin Sheils jumped into the lead of the late model feature with Chuck
Roelle and Chad Ruhlman in tow. Ruhlman would dive into second a lap
later, but Sheils pulled away...that is until he hit lapped traffic on
lap 11. Ruhlman pulled beside and a tremendous battle ensued over the
next two laps until Ruhlman grabbed the lad off the bottom of turn four
on lap 12. Sheils would not give up and raced side-by-side with Ruhlman
over the next four laps. However, this allowed Missler to close, also
bringing into the fray Dusty Moore and Rick DeLong. Missler would grab
second on lap 17 and began putting pressure on Ruhlman. Missler would
drive round Ruhlman for the top spot on lap 22, but had trouble with
lapped machines racing side-by-side in front, allowing Ruhlman to stick
a nose under him. The two raced door-to-door coming to the white flag
while Sheils, Moore, DeLong and Jerry Bowersock battled right on their
bumpers.
Missler would take the win with Ruhlman, Sheils, Moore and DeLong
rounding out the top five.
"I could tell his (Ruhlman) tires were going away. I knew if I could
just focus and try to keep my eyes off those lapped cars and pick a hole
I'd be alright," said Missler.
Dirt Trucks - Art Ball
Dave Gibbs grabbed the early lead of the 15-lap dirt truck feature with
Weichman, Craig Holland and Brian Sorg right on his bumper. Weichman
would take the lead way on a lap three restart, bringing Sorg into
second. However, a lap later Sorg would exit with mechanical woes, as
Weichman lead over Gibbs, Jim Keegan and Ball, who were within a fender
of the top spot. Ball would drive under Keegan and Gibbs into the second
spot on lap seven and raced door to door with Weichman over the next two
laps before gaining the advantage on lap 9.
Weichman would not give up without a fight and raced side-by-side with
Ball until the yellow flew with just a lap remaining. Ball was able to
pull away for the victory with Weichman, a surging Dan Hennig, Brian
Arnold and Paul Brown Jr. rounding out the top five.
Attica Raceway Park will play host to the premiere sprint car racers in
the world on Friday, May 29 as the World of Outlaws invade "Ohio's
Finest Racing" speedplant. The late models will also be in action.
